Army Black has discovered an unprotected river crossing into Red's territory and attempts to secure it and establish a bridgehead. Army Red rushes whatever elements are available in the area to counter Black's attack.
The objective of both belligerents is to ensure that no enemy units occupy the bridge or are within two grid squares at turn 15.
Black starts with one battalion to the North of GW bridge across the Muddy River. Both side's forces arrive piecemeal during the first six turns with the arrival position of Red's units being randomly decided.
Early in the battle Army Black is fighting to hold the bridge.
Red's units are appearing at random starting positions and the Red General scrabbles to get them in some sort of order. An Elite Black Light Infantry battalion marches onto the bridge to replace the exhausted regulars.
Red's own bekilted Elite unit rush in with fixed bayonets - artillery support has finally been established on One Tree Hill.
As the day wears on, Black begins to push forward; the Black Hussars rush across the field to silence Red's guns.
Black having succeeded in destroying Red's artillery focuses on the centre elements of Army Red leaving a substantial Red presence on the left flank that has been reducing Black's reinforcements.
The day ends with neither side in full control of the bridge area.

It’s a tough scenario for Black to win…I thought they’d pulled it off, but night fell too soon. Nice report 👍🏼
ReplyDeleteCheers Martin. Agreed its one that I haven't "won" yet!
DeleteA very interesting scenario and battle report. Well worth waiting for!
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Bob
Thanks Bob - this time Black did actually manage to get a sizeable amount of troops over the bridge. Often it results in a bottleneck and shootout across the river.
DeleteNice battle report Maudlin Jack. Very enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThanks Roger. The One Hour Wargames scenarios always provide an entertaining game
DeleteNicely done ⚔️⚔️👏👏 To be fair I was a fair bit distracted by the elite light infantry of the black army - what were they wearing on their heads? It’s hardly inconspicuous 😉
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Geoff
Thanks Geoff.
DeleteI don't think "blending in" is the idea with these uniforms!!
